New grouping label for merchants
Discover what a Customer Group is in Kushki and how to use this label to group branches and generate consolidated card payment reports.
What is the Customer Group?
The Customer Group is a new label within the Kushki console that allows merchants to group one or more Customers under the same name. Its main purpose is to simplify the generation of consolidated reports for the entire commercial structure, without needing to access each account separately.
This means that:
- It does not centralize or decentralize payment configurations, terminals, or business rules.
- It does not store transaction information on its own.
- It does allow generating consolidated card reports for all Customers and Branches grouped under it.
- It does not store any operational configuration data, only the Customer Group name.
- It is an optional field: it can be created when registering the Customer or at any later time.
- It has its own ID with the same structure as Owner, Customer, and Branch IDs (alphanumeric, visible in the console URL).
- Transactions are marked with the Customer Group in effect at the time they are made. If the grouping is changed, previous transactions retain the previous label.
2. Description of each level
| Level | Description |
|---|---|
| Owner | Top level of the hierarchy. Represents Kushki, a Partner, or a BSP. Manages all Customer Groups and Customers under its structure. |
| Customer Group | Optional logical grouping level. Used exclusively for reporting consolidation. Does not inherit configurations or centralize technical parameters. |
| Customer | Operational configuration level. Defines the processors, payment methods, and rates that Branches will inherit (if centralized). A Customer can group multiple branches. |
| Branch | Transactional entity linked to a Merchant ID. In Kushki One, they can operate through physical terminals. If two points of sale require different configurations, they must be created as independent Branches. |
2.1 How to handle Card Present and Card Not Present in the same Customer?
If a merchant needs to operate with both Card Present and Card Not Present, the options are:
- Create one Branch for Card Present and another for Card Not Present within the same Customer, fully decentralizing the configuration of each Branch.
- Create two separate Customers, one for each operation type.
The key point is that the Merchant ID cannot operate both modes simultaneously. The separation must be done at the Branch or Customer level.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. Does the Customer Group affect terminal configurations or payment rules?
No. The Customer Group is solely a grouping label for report generation. It does not modify any payment processing configurations, terminals, or business rules.
2. How many Customer Groups can a merchant create?
There is no defined limit. If you want a single report covering all operations, the ideal approach is to have one Customer Group that groups all Customers.
3. Can merchants generate transfer or cash reports with the Customer Group?
No. At this time, reports at the Customer Group level are only available for card transactions. For reports on other payment methods, merchants must continue generating them from each Branch.
4. Why can't the merchant see the Customer Group field when creating a Customer?
Verify that you are accessing with Owner credentials.
